What is Horry County Literacy Council?

The Horry County Literacy Council (HCLC) is a
nonprofit organization founded in 1976. HCLC
recruits and certifies volunteer tutors, provides
materials for clients, and raises funds to maintain
program expenses. Lessons are
private and confidential.

Mission

 

The Council’s mission is to improve the lives of youth, adults, and families by teaching basic literacy and life skills for economic and social success.

Vision

To be recognized as  a nonprofit organization in Horry County that has made a difference in the reduction of functional illiteracy.
